3 Security Options for Entering Your Business

Restricted entrance to your business is the best way to control exactly who comes and goes. There are many companies that don’t require this level of security, but if you need to monitor the coming and going of employees and protect your assets from prying eyes, then you’ll need to set up a security checkpoint for entering the business.

Here are three top security options to consider.

Access Control System

Do you need to secure the doors that everyone comes through? The simplest way to do this is to use an access control system. This usually consists of a unit set outside the entrance door, which requires using it to enter the space. Only those with access cards or codes can get in on their own. An access control point will allow only those who have the method of entry to pass through the door. You may provide access fobs, swipe cards, or just offer a code to each employee. These can be set up in the system so you know exactly when any particular employee entered the building. These systems also provide the option of using an intercom to remotely allow access, for deliveries and visitors.

Turnstiles

Do you have a high-traffic lobby? It may be best to use turnstiles to ensure only authorised personnel make it through to the areas beyond. Turnstiles reduce traffic speed since they have to move through one by one. There’s a single point of entry, which makes it easier to monitor who is coming in and you can also install turnstile options that only allow those with a passcard to move through them. If you choose the high-security option, you can also track who is in the building and what time they went through the turnstiles. Exit turnstiles give you even more information on the comings and goings of your employees.

Security Barriers

Another option is to stop people at the time of entry with their vehicle. This requires a security guard standing by, but with a security barrier, you can ensure everyone stops to be checked before they enter the parking area. You may implement any other security precautions you wish at this point, but it’s a good idea to have security cameras at the point of entry in any business. Once the visitor or employee has stopped to be identified, the guard can easily raise the barrier to let them through. You may wish to provide employees with placards to use in their windscreen so they can be identified rapidly and let through without delay.

With all these choices, you have no excuse not to tighten up security in your business. You’ll easily be able to track who is in the business at any given time and can ensure that strangers aren’t given accidental access to restricted areas. You may even wish to implement multiples of these security entrances.
